Terms of Service
Last updated: July 27, 2026
By creating a Spens account or using the service, you agree to these terms. They are deliberately short and readable — please take a moment to go through them.
1. The service
Spens is a personal pocket ledger: it lets you record transactions and track budgets, savings goals, debts and accounts, on your own or in shared spaces. Spens is published by David Dossou, acting as an individual. Contact: djidenou@hey.com.
2. A tracking tool, not an advisor
Spens helps you see your money clearly, but it provides no financial advice, no investment advice, and no banking or payment services. Amounts, categories and analytics shown are based on what you enter; automated features (such as quick add) can make mistakes, and it is up to you to verify your data. Your financial decisions remain your own.
3. Your account
- You must provide a valid email address that only you can access: it is used to sign you in with one-time codes.
- You are responsible for activity performed from your account. Let us know quickly if you suspect unauthorized access.
- The service is not intended for people under 15.
4. Shared spaces
When you invite someone into a shared space, or join one, the data in that space is visible to its members. Only record there what you are willing to share with them, and only invite people you trust.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use Spens for illegal or fraudulent purposes;
- attempt to access other users' data or compromise the security of the service;
- overload, probe or reverse-engineer the service, or scrape data from it.
Serious violations may lead to suspension or deletion of your account.
6. Pricing
Spens is currently free. A paid tier may be introduced in the future for some features; core tracking features will remain accessible, and no switch to a paid plan will be imposed on you without clear prior notice. You will never be charged without your explicit consent.
7. Your data
Your data belongs to you. How it is processed is described in the privacy policy. You can delete your account at any time from your profile, which permanently erases your data.
8. Availability and liability
Spens is under active development and provided "as is". We do our best to keep it reliable and available, but we cannot guarantee it will be free of interruptions or errors. To the extent permitted by law, the publisher's liability is limited to direct and foreseeable damages, and does not extend to financial decisions made on the basis of information displayed by the app. Keep your own records of anything important.
9. Changes to the service and these terms
The service evolves regularly: features may be added, changed or removed. These terms may be updated accordingly; if a significant change is made, you will be informed in the app or by email. Continuing to use Spens after a change means you accept the updated terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law applicable at the user's place of residence where mandatory consumer-protection rules apply. In case of a dispute, please contact us first at djidenou@hey.com so we can look for an amicable solution.
